Voice Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology Services
for Adults and Children
THE BENEFITS OF VIDEO SESSIONS
Virtual care is the application of telecommunication technologies at a distance. Its use has been steadily increasing in the profession of speech-language pathology over the past few decades with technological advances and improved access. Numerous research studies have validated the use of virtual care as an effective way of providing speech therapy.
Video sessions have been part of my service delivery model since long before the COVID-19 pandemic. As always, they will only be recommended if my clinical judgement supports that strategies delivered through a screen will benefit you as greatly as they would if we were sitting in front of one another in the same room.
In addition to the obvious benefit of reducing the spread of illness, here are some additional benefits of virtual care:

CONVENIENCE
Most of us are busier than ever juggling the demands of work and home. Eliminating the drive to the clinic saves precious time!
FLEXIBILITY
Although my in-person clinic hours are generally fixed, virtual care may provide more flexibility to accommodate you with a broader range of session times.
CARRYOVER
With the shift to online work and classes, communicating with others using video technology has become a regular occurrence for many. Video sessions provide the opportunity to observe your voice and communication skills within this functional context, allowing me to identify your specific needs and streamline goals. In addition, services are rendered in an environment where you are most comfortable – the same environment in which you will likely practice recommended exercises. This makes carryover to everyday communication contexts easier.
